The 2017 Honda Civic Type R sets Nürburgring Nordschleife lap record for fastest front-wheel drive production car
What’s the matter?
Honda is no stranger to a front-wheel drive game. Although many hate configuration, it still works very well in its own way. And Honda is one of the few brands that prove that front-wheel drive cars can work just as well as some of their rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive counterparts. Last example: 2017 hot new Honda Civic Type R.
He became the world’s fastest production front-wheel-drive car to overtake the Nurburgring Nordschleife. A suitable record to sit next to other great Honda, like the original Integra Type R.

How fast did the Civic Type R drive the Nurburgring Nordschleife?

On April 3, 2017, he drove the 12.9-mile Green Hell in just 7 minutes and 43.80 seconds. He was almost three seconds faster than the Civic Type R before him.

This happened in part thanks to the latest and most powerful Civic Type R 4-cylinder 2-cylinder turbocharged engine with 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Then it is complemented by a very aggressive but functional aerodynamic body kit, sporty-tuned front control lever and rear multi-link suspension, a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and a limited-slip differential.
