Los Angeles International Auto Show – What Happens! And Chevrolet has just unveiled the world’s most powerful production Corvette for the first time on American soil. Meet the brand new, completely obsessed with 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Originally introduced in Dubai earlier this month, the new ZR1 is based on the current-generation C7 Corvette and, in fact, is the successor to the previous generation CR ZR1 generation of 2009, a car that already had ridiculous characteristics.
Now, just imagine that car, except with 755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of twist and wrapped in the C7’s latest body.
Yup, you read correctly.
The 2019 C7 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 outperforms the C6 ZR1 with 117 horses and 111 torques. The new ZR1 is powered by Chevrolet Performance’s latest LT5 engine, the company’s most powerful production engine. It is based on the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 Z06. But now it is equipped with a completely new supercharger that is more efficient with airflow. It is still cooling, providing a displacement volume of 52% more than the Z06 LT4. General Motors also installed its first dual-fuel injector fuel supply system, offering both intake and direct injection for optimum fuel atomization.
The 2019 Chevrolet
Corvette ZR1 can be equipped with either a seven-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, making it the first ZR1 to offer one. Chevrolet’s official performance indicators have not yet been disclosed, except that they managed to accelerate a top speed of up to 210 mph. But for comparison: the latest-generation Corvette ZR1 took just 3.3 seconds to break 60 from a standstill with a maximum acceleration of about 200 miles per hour.
So, given that the new ZR1 has tremendous power, the new machine must be much faster to climb to the top.
There is a body kit designed in a wind tunnel that can provide up to 950 pounds of downforce at speed.
As a benchmark for performance not only for the Corvette line, but for the Chevrolet as a whole, the ZR1 also boasts even more impressive speed performance compared to the previous model. This is due to a significant upgrade of the ZR1 body kit, designed specifically to enhance traction with downforce at speed. But improved aerodynamics is not only downforce, but also the efficiency of air cooling.
For example, the design of the front bumper has a special shape to direct air into the engine compartment for the intercooler and improve the overall cooling of the colossal 13 heat exchangers in general in ZR1. You read it right. There are 13 different types of radiators for cooling various parts of the car. On the hood there is also a proprietary air duct giving the ZR1 a completely unique look compared to other corvettes, as well as functional.
Additional airflow also contributes to reliability on the ZR1 track – thanks to the coolness of the ZR1, it is able to maintain higher speeds and more aggressive driving for longer periods of time.
Power to the Ground is the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 dinner tire set (part of the ZTK performance package), while the Magnetic Ride Control takes on a custom-made custom setting for the ZR1.
And it completes all this with the new affordable Sebring Orange package – a special exterior color and interior trim designed specifically for the ZR1. It comes, you guessed it, with lots of items painted in Sebring Orange. From leather seats with orange microfiber inlays to leather Napa steering wheels.
